A Proven Model of Community Safety

Shomrim — meaning "guardians" or "watchmen" in Hebrew — is a model of community safety patrol that originated in Brooklyn and has since expanded to Jewish communities across the United States, Canada, and beyond.

Cleveland Shomrim Patrol was established to bring that same framework to the Jewish community of Greater Cleveland. We are a volunteer organization, not a law enforcement agency. Our role is to respond to safety concerns, assist community members in need, and coordinate with local authorities when appropriate.

Our Mission

To protect and serve the Jewish community of Cleveland through trained volunteer patrols, rapid response, and cooperative relationships with local law enforcement authorities.

Our Approach

We do not replace police. We supplement them. When a community member calls us, we assess the situation, provide immediate support, and escalate to law enforcement as needed. We are a first line of presence and communication — not a substitute for professional law enforcement.

Professional. Discreet. Community-Driven.

Trained Volunteers

Cleveland Shomrim is run entirely by trained community volunteers. Our members are screened, trained, and committed to serving with professionalism and discretion.

Law Enforcement Coordination

We work directly with local law enforcement agencies to ensure coordinated, effective responses. Our relationship with authorities is cooperative and built on mutual trust.

Confidential & Respectful

Every call is handled with complete discretion. We understand that asking for help can be difficult, and we treat every situation with the seriousness and respect it deserves.

Always Available

Our patrol operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Safety doesn't keep business hours, and neither do we.
